A welcoming primary school in Rochdale is looking to appoint a qualified and enthusiastic Level 3 Teaching Assistant to support teaching and learning in Key Stage 2. This full-time role will involve working alongside the class teacher, providing general classroom support and focused assistance for pupils with special educational needs (SEN), particularly those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the class teacher to deliver planned learning activities aligned with the KS2 National Curriculum
* Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN, following personalised EHCP targets
* Adapt learning tasks and resources to ensure accessibility and engagement for all learners
* Assist with classroom organisation, preparation of resources, and maintaining a positive learning environment
* Deliver targeted interventions in areas such as literacy, numeracy, social communication, and emotional regulation
* Track and record pupil progress, providing feedback linked to individual SEN outcomes
* Promote positive behaviour, independence, and resilience in line with school policies
* Liaise with the SENCO, class teacher, parents, and external professionals to ensure effective support strategies
* Participate in review meetings and contribute to the planning of next steps for pupils with SEN
Requirements:
* Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) - essential
* Experience supporting pupils in Key Stage 2
* Previous work with children with SEN and EHCPs is highly desirable
* Knowledge of strategies such as visual supports, now/next boards, Zones of Regulation, PECS, or Makaton is an advantage
* Excellent communication skills and a calm, nurturing approach
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow guidance from the teacher and SENCO
