Overview
We're looking for a Senior IT Support Engineer to support the implementation and maintenance of secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This role plays a key part in cybersecurity monitoring and policy enforcement. While the role will be the focal point for cloud and security at RDI, it will be supported closely by a senior engineer and external ad hoc/project‑based specialists. The postholder will work under the guidance of the Senior IT Engineer and Group IT Director, contributing to the organisation’s strategic IT resilience and compliance posture.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the setup and configuration of secure cloud services (e.g. Azure, Microsoft 365).
* Help maintain and monitor cybersecurity tools and controls under guidance.
* Support implementation of security policies such as MFA and endpoint protection.
* Support the IT team in project delivery, system upgrades, and documentation.
* Carry out routine system checks and assist in incident response activities.
* Help gather data for security audits (e.g. ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
* Learn and support compliance tracking processes.
* Assist with scheduled backup jobs and system recovery tests.
* Process helpdesk calls for various local and national needs across RDI’s 3 UK offices.
* Support RDI internationally as it develops its Worldwide growth (occasional international travel may be required).
* Help maintain DR documentation and recovery tools.
* Proactively learn cloud technologies, IT security practices, and network management.
* Attend internal and external training aligned to career development.
* Glean information and knowledge about RDI’s factory IT set up.
Core Skills & Behaviours
* Exposure to Microsoft Azure services (VMs, Intune, Entra ID, Firewall and Storage).
* Familiarity with Microsoft 365 security settings (Purview and Defender).
* Basic knowledge of scripting (PowerShell preferred).
* Awareness of compliance standards (GDPR, ISO 27001).
* Knowledge of Veeam and Zerto.
* Experience using ClowdStrike.
* Knowledge of Kali Linux and ethical testing of exploits to develop remediation path.
