We have a great opportunity for a specialty doctor who wants to get involved in the management of patients with more complex orthodontic needs. This is an opportunity to increase your confidence in treating patients who require multidisciplinary care or who have additional medical needs or a learning disability.
This post can be either full time or part time (minimum of 2 days per week).
The employer will be Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be required to work at Dorset County Hospital (Dorchester) and Royal Bournemouth Hospital (Bournemouth).
Main duties of the job
* Provide orthodontic treatment to patients with complex orthodontic needs (Level 3b) allocated by the Orthodontic Consultants.
* Where appropriate to treatment plan orthodontic care for less complex cases.
* To support the running of the orthodontic service through clinical governance activity and education of support staff.
* Treat patients with more complex orthodontic needs with consultant oversight
* Deliver high quality, customer focused care.

Education, Qualifications & Training
Essential criteria
* Full GDC registration and on the GDC Specialist Register for Orthodontics
* Postgraduate training in Orthodontics on a 4 year full time progamme
* Holds a qualification as an Orthodontic Specialist: MOrth
* To have undertaken an MScD or DDS or equivalent related to orthodontics
Experience & Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Experience of multidisciplinary working
* Evidence of ability to perform orthodontic procedures without immediate supervision
Desirable criteria
* Ideally at least 3 years of post-orthodontic qualification clinical experience in Orthodontics
Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
* Good knowledge of and ability to use spoken and written English
* Participation in continuing professional development (CPD) scheme and, where relevant, evidence of past participation
Desirable criteria
* Ability to develop effective working relationships with all levels of staff
* Good time management skills and ability to cope with and organise effectively own workload
* Understanding clinical governance and the responsibilities it implies
* Knowledge of the principles of and evidence of participation in clinical audit
