Location:Rugby
Pay Rate: £17.59 £20.66 per hour
Contract: Full-time, 3 months initially
Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive Health and Safety Compliance Officer to support safe, compliant waste and recycling operations. This is a hands-on role involving site inspections, operational monitoring, and working closely with frontline teams to promote a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation (HASAWA, COSHH, RIDDOR)
* Develop and review risk assessments and Safe Systems of Work
* Conduct depot inspections, ride-alongs, and operational audits
* Use CCTV to monitor safety, investigate incidents, and identify improvements (GDPR compliant)
* Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions
* Deliver toolbox talks and support staff training
* Monitor vehicle and equipment safety, including high-risk activities
* Oversee contractor H&S compliance
* Maintain records, analyse trends, and report on performance
* Promote positive safety behaviours across teams
Requirements
Essential:
* Experience in a health & safety role within a xsngvjr high-risk environment
* Knowledge of UK H&S legislation
* Experience with risk assessments and incident investigations
* Strong communication and ability to influence frontline staff
* Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
Desirable:
* Waste services or local government experience
* NEBOSH General Certificate
* CCTV monitoring/investigation experience
