Are you passionate about the conservation and care of historic buildings - planning sustainable alterations, re-use and designing sensitive contextual alterations? James Mackintosh Architects is seeking an experiencedSenior Architectural Technicianto join our team in Chipping Norton.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of conservation projects including residential and repair projects across the Cotswolds and West Midlands - from listed country houses to rural farmsteads. You’ll bring at leastfive years post-qualification experience (CIAT)and an appreciation for traditional detailing and sustainability.
Working closely with our team, you’ll support projects through every phase - from planning and listed building consent to detailed construction information and on-site implementation. We pride ourselves on delivering well-crafted, buildable solutions at every stage of the design process.
Key responsibilities
* Produce high-quality technical drawing packages for planning, listed building consent, building control and construction.
* Coordinate and lead technical work packages to conservation standards.
* Ensure compliance with building regulations and support with compliance under the building safety act.
* Provide technical expertise on materials, construction methods, and sustainable approaches.
* Travel to site locations across the region (a full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential - business mileage reimbursed).

What we are looking for
* CIAT-qualified technician.
* Demonstrable experience in historic building conservation, repair and maintenance.
* Excellent knowledge of current UK building regulations.
* Proficiency in traditional detailing and materials.
* Conservation accreditation or willingness to pursue it.
* Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.
