Position Summary
Under close supervision, the Aseptic Technician will be trained to perform procedures in compliance with Process Worksheets, Standard Operating Procedures, and policies for the filling, freeze drying, and capping of lyophilized biological products.
Hours: Nights, 12-hour shift, 6:00pm – 6:30am. Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Position Responsibilities
* Learn and practice basic aseptic procedures as per training and SOPs.
* Assist with reading and reporting testing results using scientific instruments.
* Demonstrate reliability in attendance and punctuality.
* Learn and comply with SOPs and associated documentation necessary to perform job functions.
* Learn and assist in the completion of documentation including process worksheets, reports, log sheets.
* Train in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), then demonstrate understanding and compliance.
* Clean areas, as applicable, according to specific SOPs.
* Assist in maintaining adequate supplies in the production area.
* Demonstrate safe work habits and maintain a safe work environment. Understand and comply with safety SOPs and procedures (MSDS guidelines, Near Miss, PPE, biohazard training, Monthly Safety trainings, etc.). May be required to handle hazardous waste.
* Demonstrate the ability to perform mathematical calculations and metric conversions.
* Demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills within and outside the department using verbal, written, and non-verbal skills.
* Become certified operator of electric material handling equipment (e.g., electric pallet jack, tank tugger).
* Perform supplemental duties as assigned by supervision.
Education and Experience
* High School graduate or equivalent
* Demonstrate basic mechanical skills.
* Demonstration of personal computer usage
* Minimum of 5 years BPM Aseptic Experience or prior Lead experience
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
* Good communication skills; ability to read, interpret, and apply safety procedures, SOPs, maintenance instructions, and departmental procedures. Effective communication with peers and Team Leader. Accurate and legible documentation.
* Basic math skills; perform conversions within the metric system; complete controlled documents and inventory calculations.
* Ability to understand and apply instructions in various formats; multitask; recognize product quality issues based on guidelines, policies, and procedures.
* Good listening skills; ability to work in a team; positive attitude; respect for co-workers.
* Understanding of Aseptic Technique; airflow and movement within lab; serve as a model for aseptic technique.
* Leadership skills; lead by example; own the area and team; maintain area; coach/train; provide feedback.
* Technical understanding of Lyophilization; coordinate work schedules; assist in investigations and process improvements; work with cross-functional groups.
Physical Position Requirements
Must meet physical demands such as manual dexterity, constant standing, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and flexible working hours including weekends, holidays, and overtime.
