Financial Accountant
Central London | Railway Infrastructure Sector
An established and highly regarded organisation within the railway infrastructure sector is seeking a technically strong and commercially minded Financial Accountant to join its Financial Control team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a practice-trained ACA/ACCA who has since moved into industry as a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager and is now looking for a broader, more commercially exposed role within a complex, regulated environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control, technical compliance, and high-quality reporting across the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Ownership of fixed asset accounting and reconciliations
2. Lead on IFRS 16 lease accounting
3. Preparation and management of statutory accounts, including change control
4. Driving high-quality and timely balance sheet reconciliations
5. Supporting external and internal audits
6. Providing guidance on accounting standards, company law and HMRC regulations
7. Supporting tax computation preparation
8. Partnering with wider finance and operational teams to mitigate risk and improve processes
This role offers real breadth - combining technical accounting with business interaction and process improvement.
About You
We are looking for:
9. ACA or ACCA qualified (practice-trained)
10. Currently in industry in a Financial Accountant or Finance Manager role
11. Strong grounding in technical accounting and financial control
12. Commercially astute - able to understand the "why" behind the numbers
13. Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
14. A proactive problem solver who enjoys improving processes
15. Meticulous attention to detail
