We have an opportunity for an Associate to join our Insurance and Reinsurance Team in our Edinburgh office. About the role The Insurance & Reinsurance Group are busy and continue to grow. They are looking to hire into the Edinburgh team at the 4 PQE level. The team handle a wide range of market leading matters which include: (i) wide ranging professional indemnity disputes (particularly defending claims against finance professionals, solicitors, insurance brokers); (ii) financial lines, W&I, cyber risks; and (iii) complex policy coverage matters. The Scottish team also work on national and international construction all risks disputes, insurance policy coverage disputes and on insurance advisory matters. You will have the opportunity to work with an enviable client base, including many of the leading insurers and major brokers. The team are known for being friendly, highly commercial in their advice and offer the prospect of working closely with key clients, alongside being encouraged to develop your own contacts/network in the market. Our opportunities are open to all suitably qualified applicants, so to be considered for this role, you must meet the following skills and experience: We would like you to be Scots law or dual qualified but will consider those qualified in E&W only also. If you are not dual qualified, a willingness to become dual-qualified would be desirable. The right individual will have experience gained at a good commercial firm in Scotland (or E&W). We are looking for people 4-7PQE ideally. You will have excellent drafting skills and the ability to deliver practical and commercial advice. Due to the role being client facing, you will need to have sound judgement and good interpersonal and project management skills. You will have gained experience in the professional indemnity and financial lines classes of business, but we are open to considering applicants with extensive coverage experience in other classes.
