Leap29 are currently assisting a client who is on the lookout for a Senior Director of Development (Central Regions) in the U.S.
We're on the lookout for an adept leader in utility-scale renewables develpment to actively assist in expanding the portfolio of greenfield renewable energy projects across the US. This strategic role demands a commercially astute individual committed to value creation, capable of managing a dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will be involved in daily project operations and tasked with assembling a focused team, prioritizing markets within SPP, MISO, and ERCOT. They are headquartered in Texas but the role can be done on a remote basis.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Directly lead and construct a team dedicated to the development and oversight of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects.
- Collaborate with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) to strategize and implement the greenfield agenda in the U.S.
- Oversee the greenfield development lifecycle, ensuring projects are construction-ready within set timelines.
- Handle multiple project developments simultaneously, utilizing both internal and external resources for market analysis, land acquisition, environmental studies, and regulatory compliance, culminating in the execution of essential agreements and commissioning support.
- Enhance and refine internal processes, oversee external consultants, and manage project timelines and budgets, while also representing the company at industry events and contributing to the leadership of the U.S. Development team.
- Conduct thorough due diligence for potential acquisition of renewable energy projects.
- Regularly update and modify the execution strategy as needed within your designated market.
- Provide clear and timely updates on project progress.
- Manage the overarching project timeline and budget effectively.
- Demonstrate strong computer proficiency and an openness to new technological solutions that support project development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in renewable energy project development.
- Thrives in a remote, entrepreneurial environment.
- Proficient in leading both internal teams and external partners, driving continuous progress through various development stages.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the market trends and dynamics within the target regions.
- Exhibits leadership through approachability, integrity, empathy, and professional vigor.
