Job Description:
What you'll be doing :
* Provide high-quality professional advice on planning matters to clients, members of the public, Councillors, and others as necessary.
* Negotiate with applicants and stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes within contractual timeframes.
* Prepare concise, accurate reports and recommendations on major planning applications and pre-application discussions, applying current legislation and policies.
* Stay updated with current and emerging policy developments at local, regional, and national levels to benefit clients.
* Support peers and mentor junior staff to meet project and team targets, sharing knowledge and expertise, and assisting in securing new work.
* Participate in service improvements and business operations for resilience, competitiveness, efficiency, and effectiveness.
* Willing to travel to meet client requirements; a valid driving license is required.
What we're looking for :
* Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
* 7-10+ years relevant experience, including acting as an expert witness at Planning Inquiries.
* Ability to prioritize and manage workload flexibly to meet business needs.
* Experience as a senior/principal planning officer or consultant in public or private sectors.
* Strong knowledge of current and emerging planning legislation.
* Ambition to enhance the reputation of the Development Management service through innovation, quality, and timeliness.
