Role Overview
Senior Radiographer (MRI Department) – a 9‑month fixed term contract at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Part‑time, job‑share or full‑time work will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide patient care within the MRI department, working independently without direct supervision and reporting to the Superintendent Radiographers.
* Perform IV cannulation for specific examinations and administer pharmaceuticals in line with imaging protocol and procedure.
* Participate in the Directorate Quality Assurance Programme; monitor MRI quality assurance and suggest, implement, and assess appropriate changes.
* Communicate effectively to ensure a safe service for patients and liaise with staff across the Health Board.
* Act as a Practitioner for plain‑film referrals in line with IR(ME)R 2017, following the required training and assessment period.
* Understand and actively participate in the clinical audit process; involvement in departmental audits is encouraged.
* Train and mentor radiographers and student radiographers within their specialised roles.
* Support service developments such as paediatric GA lists, 'Bed Time' scanning, MRI conditional pacemaker scanning, and cochlear implant service.
Required Qualifications & Experience
* Current registration as a qualified radiographer (as per UK standards).
* Experience of working in MRI and CT scanning within a diagnostic hub environment.
* Knowledge of IV cannulation technique and pharmaceutical administration in imaging settings.
* Practical experience in quality assurance, clinical audit, and training/mentoring of staff.
* Training and assessment in IR(ME)R 2017 Practitioner duties.
* Welsh language skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) – speaking & listening – are desirable but not essential.
