MSK Physiotherapist Band 6 - (Developmental Band 5)
The Community based Musculoskeletal (MSK) Service has an exciting opportunity to recruit to either a developmental Band 5 or Band 6 MSK physiotherapist to work as part of our team of physiotherapists, Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioners (APP) and MSK Doctors.
We currently work out of a range of health centres and GP practices across the city. We are looking for an enthusiastic physiotherapist who already has experience of treating MSK patients autonomously, as well as the wider spectrum of physiotherapy, and is keen to further develop their MSK skills in order to provide specialised management of patients presenting with a wide variety of MSK conditions. Management of MSK patients often needs adapting dependent on other co‑morbidities, which is why experience of other aspects of physiotherapy is required and this role is not suitable for newly qualified physiotherapists.
This developmental band 5 role requires completion of a range of competencies that will be worked through along with senior support, and if these are successfully completed you will automatically progress to being a band 6 MSK physiotherapist. Alternatively, those who already have sufficient experience within the MSK field will start in a Band 6 role.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for:
* Your own independent caseload and undertaking MSK assessment of patients with a wide range of health needs, who may have additional complex and multiple pathologies.
* Identifying patient needs, agreeing goals, and providing appropriate therapy interventions.
* Keeping the patient at the centre of care, ensuring the patient is engaged in a shared decision‑making approach.
* Liaising with the wider MSK team.
You will be based in one or more hub sites across the city, working alongside more senior physiotherapy staff. It is essential that you are flexible and prepared to travel to different venues according to the needs of the service. This is a busy, fast paced environment to work in, but we will support your personal and professional development with weekly senior mentorship. We have a strong emphasis on clinical supervision and in‑service training. The MSK service is actively involved in research, having participated and run clinical trials. The service continues to explore extended hours provision; however, the service currently runs Monday to Friday.
Due to this, it is essential that applicants can travel independently across the city, via public transport, or have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. If necessary, adjustments can be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
