Overview
We are seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to take technical ownership of medium voltage switchgear design and type testing programmes. You will drive products from initial concept through to industrialisation, working closely with the Engineering Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, safe, and cost-effective solutions.
Lead the full design lifecycle of medium voltage switchgear products from concept and functional specification through detailed design, prototype build, type testing and through to manufacturing industrialisation. Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, usability and cost targets at every stage.
Standards compliance and type testing
Act as Lead Engineer responsible for verifying and demonstrating compliance with applicable MV switchgear standards including IEC 62271, EN 50152 and IEC 60947. Plan, coordinate and support type testing activities, interpreting results to validate design intent and resolve non-conformances.
Cross functional collaboration
Coordinate design activities with manufacturing, procurement, quality, customers and external suppliers to ensure on time delivery. Engage with customers to confirm technical requirements are captured and met throughout the design process.
Team leadership and mentoring
Lead and mentor junior engineers within the design team, contributing ideas to improve departmental processes and efficiency. Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the engineering function.
