About The Role
What is the role?
As a Plant Operator, you will ensure the safe, compliant (legal, regulatory, environmental), and efficient operation of the Plant. You will work as a key member of the shift team alongside other operational staff and maintenance employees.
The successful candidate will act as the Plant AP, assisting the Plant SAP in safety and operational duties to ensure the facility functions as an integrated whole, operating at maximum safety, compliance, availability, and efficiency.
The role involves working on a rotating shift pattern, including day shifts, weekends, and public/bank holidays, providing shift-rota and standby cover to ensure continuous 24/7 operation.
What you will be doing
Below is a brief overview of the responsibilities:
* Maintaining high standards in health and safety performance and environmental compliance.
* Assisting with plant operations to meet local authority agreements, environmental permits, planning conditions, and duty of care responsibilities, while achieving safety, waste, vehicle turnaround, and residue output targets.
* Supporting SAP and management in the correct use and monitoring of safety rules and safe systems of work, including authorizations and cancellations.
* Administering site safety rules correctly, including PTW, LOTO, and monitoring relevant SSOW aspects within a WtE facility.
* Operating and monitoring the plant from the Central Control Room, using DCS systems to maintain plant reliability and performance.
* Performing online cleaning of boilers, superheaters, economisers, and FGTs per schedules and OEM guidelines.
* Conducting water quality testing and adjusting chemical dosing to ensure cycle quality within set parameters.
Qualifications & Experience
The following qualifications are necessary:
* NVQ Level 4 / ONC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Previous control room operations experience.
* Good knowledge of combustion and power generation, preferably in a power plant or waste management environment.
