Senior Fellow in Burns and Laser - August 2026

Applications are invited for a 6 month fixed term Burns and Laser Fellow to join a multi-disciplinary team with high standards of clinical care to commence as soon as possible, no later than 05/08/2026 on fixed term basis until 02/02/2026. The post will be based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
Main duties of the job
The hospital has 1,213 inpatient beds, 30 operating theatres and a 100-bed critical care unit, the largest co-located critical care unit in the world. QEHB is host to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine (RCDM).
The involvement in continuing medical education is an integral part of the advertised post and as such, the successful candidate will be expected to significantly increase the recruitment to clinical trials and practice evidence based medicine.
Candidates will be post part one FRCS and within 12 months of part two; or post EBOPRAS. Previous experience/training in managing major and complex burn injuries is essential. In addition to adult burn care, successful candidates will be expected to provide clinical sessions at the nearby Paediatric Burns Centre at Birmingham Childrens' Hospital.

Job responsibilities
This is a full time position working 40 hours a week. The post holder will become an integral part of the burns MDT Team who work closely with other specialties. This post will include training in total management of acute burns, burns reconstruction and laser therapy mainly for burns scars (fractionated CO2 laser and pulse dye laser) for adults and children.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full registration with the General Medical Council GMC, with licence to practice.
* FRCS(Plast)
* The Emergency Management of Severe Burns (EMSB) certificate
Experience
* Experience at least 6 months at the registrar level or higher in adults and paediatrics burns centres or burns unit.
* Ability to prioritise workload and use initiative.
* Ability to know own limitations and when to seek advice.
