We are seeking a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant with 1:1 support experience to join our inclusive and caring team at a warm and vibrant school. Starting September 2025. Duties as a SEN Teaching Assistant: Provide tailored, in-class support for a child with an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), ensuring full access to the curriculum Adapt learning activities and materials in line with individual targets and support plans Build a trusting, professional relationship that encourages progress, independence and wellbeing Support the development of social, emotional, communication or behavioural needs as required Implement strategies advised by external professionals (e.g. SALT, OT, EP) Help to monitor progress against EHCP outcomes and contribute to reviews Maintain open communication with teachers, SENCO and parents Foster inclusion, resilience and confidence both in and out of the classroom Support with transitions, routines and break/lunch time activities if needed Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant: Has recent experience supporting a child 1:1 in a primary or secondary school setting Is calm, reliable, and patient with a genuine passion for supporting SEN learners Understands the importance of personalised provision, safeguarding and communication with families Has good literacy and numeracy skills as a SEN Teaching Assistant Demonstrates flexibility and a proactive attitude to working as part of a wider SEN team Holds a relevant Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN qualification (desirable but not essential) Why Step Teachers?
