Consultant Psychiatrist in Adult Mental Health, EIP – Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, Parkside Mental Health Centre, Park Road North, Middlesbrough, Teesside, TS1 3LF, United Kingdom.
Job location: Parkside Community Mental Health Centre, Middlesbrough. The Consultant will provide clinical leadership to the Treatment & Intervention and EIP teams, delivering a treatment and intervention service for individuals with chronic or severe mental health conditions, and will supervise junior medical staff and non-medical prescribers where appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Provide committed, proactive and responsible clinical leadership to the Community Treatment and Intervention Team and EIP team.
* Attend Daily Huddle and weekly Supercell meetings; contribute to patient care decisions and management plans.
* Undertake assessments for new patients; perform follow-ups and reviews following the Model Line process; provide diagnosis and treatment plans.
* Participate in formulation meetings and care plan reviews; act as Responsible Clinician for patients on CTO and MOJ orders.
* Manage Mental Health Act assessments in the community and occasional Section 136 assessments.
* Provide supervision to Junior Medical Staff and Non-Medical Prescribers; participate in team supervision alongside the Team Manager, Advanced Practitioners and Psychologists.
* On-call frequency: 1:18; rota covers Teesside mental health units, CAS, acute hospitals, community MHA assessments, police station assessments and crisis teams.
Qualifications
* Essential: MB BCh or equivalent; fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
* Desirable:MRCPsych or equivalent; Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 Status or ability to achieve within 3 months; qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management.
Clinical Knowledge & Skills
* Excellent knowledge in specialty; strong bio-psycho-social approach; excellent oral and written English; able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty; make decisions based on evidence and experience; comply with duties under MHA and MCA.
