Role Requirements
A young individual living in Melton Mowbray requires support with enhancing their life.
Your duties would include providing support with:
1. community activities such as swimming, trike rides, trips to the park/Twin Lakes
2. personal care which includes changing continence products, bathing and dressing.
The client enjoys action songs, cause and effect toys, swimming, accessing the community, music (particularly pop music), drum kit, and sensory activities.
They have no risk awareness and requires 2:1 for all community access and personal care. The current Personal Assistant or parent will support where required.
The client has been diagnosed with autism, downs syndrome, acquired brain injury, and hypermobility. There are some challenging behaviours; they can be non-compliant and will drop to the ground refusing to move. They communicate using Makaton, and some speech and body language. They also have some sensory needs.
The client's mobility is poor, they have a wide gait which is unsteady, wide-footed and they have reduced balance. They use a wheelchair to access the community and long distances. When out and about in their wheelchair, they can grab people's hair or dogs' coats if close enough. A specific harness needs to be used.
The client has a visual Impairment. They wear glasses and struggle to move from one room to another as they cannot differentiate between different levels and surfaces.
The current Personal Assistant will act as a double up second carer where required.
