Abbeyfield Living Society relies on dedicated volunteers to combat loneliness in older adults. Our mission continues thanks to volunteers who bring their time, energy and unique skills to our houses and homes.
Role: Volunteer
Location: Sherbourne
What skills and experience do I need?
The most important thing you bring is yourself. We have roles for everyone, regardless of experience. Your time, energy and enthusiasm are what we need to get started. If you have specific skills you’d like to share, let us know. We’re always looking for ways to make the most of your talents.
What support and training will I be given?
We provide a comprehensive induction program tailored to your volunteer role. This includes the training and support you need to feel confident and empowered to make a difference from day one.
Will I be invited for an interview?
After you apply, you’ll be invited for an informal interview to get to know each other. It’s a chance to learn about the role and for us to see if you’d be a great fit for the team.
Do I need to supply references or undergo a DBS check?
The safety and wellbeing of our residents is our top priority. Our volunteering roles require two references and an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may affect an offer.
About You
 * It’s not just about the skills you bring – it’s about the impact you make. Your time and companionship can mean a lot to someone who might be feeling lonely or isolated.
 * Don’t have specific skills? No problem. We’re happy to train you and help you discover new talents. The most important thing is your willingness to share your time and make a connection.
Please note this role will require eligibility to work in the UK, two satisfactory employment references and an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which will be met by Abbeyfield. You may be asked to provide details regarding convictions; failure to disclose convictions may result in an offer of employment being revoked.
