Summary:
Design and develop complete boiler room systems including specific equipment and layout. Work closely with sales representatives and customers on system design from job concept to completion. Design efficient steam and hot water boiler systems based on project requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned.
* Specify appropriate boiler and auxiliary equipment. Size boilers and related components such as pumps, valves, and piping systems.
* Provide technical oversight during buildout and startup of boiler systems.
* Support project management in timeline, budgeting, and procurement.
* Diagnose design issues and system inefficiencies post-installation and apply solutions and product improvements to future builds. Improve/update products for increased reliability, manufacturability, and lower cost.
* Propose and implement design modifications and retrofits for existing boiler room systems.
* Provide Engineering support to the Sales team for various product questions from Reps, contractors, and customers.
* Prepare technical specifications, manuals, and as-built documentation for system builds.
* Create and manage 3D models, detailed CAD drawings, electrical P&ID’s and schematics.
* Utilize specialized 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or equivalent) to create detailed bills of material for job costing and fabrication of these systems.
* Create fabrication drawings for system headers, interconnecting piping, PRV’s, recessed connection points, louvers, access doors, stacks, vents and drains.
* Perform structural/design calculations required for special components and assemblies.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database, Design Internet, Manufacturing, Spreadsheet software, and Word processing software. The individual should be proficient with Computer-Aided Design (i.e. Solidworks, AutoCAD, or equivalent)
Other Skills and Abilities
Prefer similar experience in engineering support and design.
