Job Opportunity: Dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant (TA) - Darwen, Lancashire Location: Darwen, Lancashire (BB3 postcode area) Role: Specialist 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant Contract: Full-Time, Temporary - Term-Time Only Salary/Rate: £95 - £110 per day The Role: Making a Real Difference in Darwen We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and highly dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in the Darwen, Lancashire area. This crucial role involves providing tailored, one-to-one support to a specific pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to help them fully access the curriculum, achieve their personal best, and thrive in the school setting. The successful candidate will be a key-worker, responsible for: Individualised Support: Delivering planned 1:1 interventions and adapting learning materials to meet the pupil's specific needs (e.g., ASD, SEMH, complex needs). Encouraging Independence: Promoting self-esteem, social skills, and the pupil's independence within the classroom and during school activities. Implementing Plans: Assisting with the implementation and monitoring of the pupil's Individual Education Plan (IEP) or Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Behaviour & Wellbeing: Supporting positive behaviour management strategies and attending to the pupil's social, emotional, and physical well-being (which may include personal care). Collaboration: Working closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals (e.g., Speech & Language Therapists). Record Keeping: Monitoring the pupil's progress, recording observations, and providing clear feedback to the teaching team. What We Are Looking For (Essential Skills & Experience) To excel in this rewarding SEN Teaching Assistant role, you must demonstrate: Proven Experience: Prior experience (minimum 6 months is often requested) working in a school, care setting, or similar environment, specifically supporting children/young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a 1:1 or small group basis. Key Attributes: Exceptional patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuinely calm, proactive approach to challenges. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, and parents. Commitment: A dedication to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
