1:1 Learning Support Assistant

* Hours: 8.30am to 4pm
Join our team at an independent special school located in a serene rural setting between Crawley, Horsham, and East Grinstead. We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant to support a Year 7 student with Social, Emotional & Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH), on a 1:1 basis.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Support student in achieving their educational and personal goals.
* Help student with after-school clubs, extra-curricular activities, and homework.
* Work with a child who have complex emotional needs and ensure a supportive environment.
* Recognise and de‑escalate potential disruptions to maintain a calm learning environment.
* Maintain positive relationships with pupils, exercising appropriate authority and acting decisively when necessary.
* Create a positive and inclusive environment that supports the personal and academic growth of students with special needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Experience working with children who have complex emotional needs.
* Ability to recognise and de‑escalate tense situations effectively.
* Strong interpersonal skills to maintain good relationships with pupils.
* Genuine care and dedication to helping students thrive in an educational setting.
* Capability to work flexible hours, including late finishes.
