Hitachi Energy is hiring a Senior Primary Engineer to join the team. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a passion and desire to deliver within applications engineering, looking for an eye for detail and the ability to prepare documentation and diagrams.
In this role, you will be responsible for the technical expertise in the design and installation of Substation Layouts for 400kV to 11kV substation projects.
Required: Onsite at our central Birmingham office 2–3 days per month or when required. Visa sponsorship is not provided.
How You’ll Make An Impact
* Provide substation layouts and associated detail diagrams in accordance with established UK standards and processes through allocated CAD resources locally and in other business units.
* Develop technical specifications and material schedules for primary equipment.
* Prepare conductor force calculations.
* Check and approve project documentation in accordance with established standards.
* Ensure own and delegated work packages are delivered to project programme, scope and align to allocated budget. Provide comments where required on delegated works.
* Provide technical support and develop tender scheme options and related project scope documents.
* Produce engineering time estimates and support monthly forecasts to complete.
* Input into design and hazard review meetings.
* Provide technical support at site when required.
Your Background
* Minimum qualification of HNC/HND in the related engineering field.
* Proven knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11kV).
* Good teamwork, analytical and communication skills.
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and in high‑pressure environments.
* Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office, AutoCAD.
* Electricity supply industry experience.
* Understanding/Knowledge of Distribution Network Operator / National Grid etc. standards and drawing practices.
