Job Description
Nexus School is a special school in Tonbridge for children and young people aged 2–19 with profound, severe, and complex learning needs, including autism. We are seeking a kind, committed and enthusiastic Midday Meals Supervisor to join our dedicated team.
You will play a vital role in supporting our pupils during the lunchtime period — helping to create a calm, safe, and enjoyable dining and play experience. This is a rewarding role ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a real difference every day.
Key Responsibilities
* Set up and clear away dining areas (tables, chairs, equipment)
* Support pupils with eating, including assisting with feeding when necessary
* Ensure mealtime hygiene and cleanliness (wiping tables, sweeping floors, washing utensils)
* Provide supervision during play, indoors and outdoors
* Support pupils with personal care and PEG feeding (training provided)
* Promote positive behaviour and social interaction
* Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil needs
* Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
Person Specification
Essential:
* GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above in English and Maths
* Experience working with children (preferably in a school or care setting)
* Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
* Patience, flexibility, and a strong team ethos
* Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with children with additional needs
Desirable:
* Experience working with children with SEND
* Knowledge of PEG feeding and personal care (training provided if not)
* First aid or safeguarding training
