Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Lead Mechatronic Engineer to join our technology team. In this
role, you will envision, design, build and test proof-of-concept prototypes and associated test rigs to advance
the robustness, usability and manufacturability of the new autonomous harvesting robotic system, progressing
it towards the first product release.
Your responsibilities will include leading design and development efforts, generating cost-effective solutions,
system integration, and testing of current technology. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the most

Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and development of the current autonomous robotic platform for raspberry harvesting,
ensuring road-to-market readiness.
- Generate cost-effective design solutions and oversee system integration of sensors, electronics, software, and
electromechanical devices.
- Actively participate in product design reviews and collaborate with engineering staff to develop cost-effective
solutions.
- Support occasional field trips for technology testing and validation at grower's sites.
- Work collaboratively with other teams at Fieldwork to ensure optimized integration with other system
components and the manufacturing process.
- Collaborate with external partners/suppliers to deliver projects on tight timescales and budgets.
- Prepare and present detailed technical reports to senior management and staff.
- Manage and maintain the company CAD and PDM infrastructure acting as the administrator of the system
and provide necessary training and support to various user across the company.Unit BB The Paddocks
Qualifications/Experience:
- Degree or HNC/HND in Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of product development experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably in
robotics.
- Experience in the full product development lifecycle for highly integrated mechatronics systems, particularly
using 3D CAD SolidWorks and Altium.
- Ability to produce production standard 3D CAD models and drawings using Solidworks, perform tolerance
stack-up analysis to ensure design clearances and fits and work with suppliers to improve designs for
manufacturability.
- Ability to lead projects, understand customer needs to support design decisions and interpret the impact of
customer requirements on mechanical specifications, defining scope, and manage available resources.
- Proficiency in handling multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines, and effectively managing
priorities.
- Experience in design for manufacturing principles for a range of manufacturing methods, with working
knowledge of injection molding, casting, CNC, sheet metal, material selection, and basic FEA tool usage is
beneficial.
- Experience working with robot arm actuators and end-effectors/grippers a plus. Ideally soft robotics
experience with gripper-soft fruit interaction.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent team working ethic with the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
- Good working knowledge of MS-Office tools.
