The Role
We are seeking a talented freelance designer to collaborate directly with our Founder on the development of new bags and small accessories. This is an exciting opportunity to bring fresh ideas to a growing brand at the forefront of sustainable fashion.
Responsibilities:
* Develop initial concepts and sketches for new bag and small accessory designs.
* Create detailed technical drawings and specifications ready for sampling and production.
* Collaborate closely with the Founder to ensure designs align with Oliver Co.’s aesthetic, brand values, and commercial goals.
* Research trends, materials, hardware, and construction techniques.
* Source sustainable and innovative materials where appropriate.
* Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to refine prototypes.
* Conduct profit margin studies and optimise designs for production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Support in building a cohesive, sustainable, and commercially viable product range.
Requirements:
* Strong portfolio demonstrating experience in designing bags and small leather goods or accessories.
* Deep understanding of construction, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* A keen eye for minimalist, functional, and sustainable design.
* Passion for sustainable innovation and responsible design practices.
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and CAD software.
* Experience creating detailed tech packs for sampling.
* Ability to balance creative vision with commercial viability.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently while being receptive to feedback.
Desirable:
* Experience working with next-gen materials (plant-based leathers, recycled fabrics, etc.).
* Knowledge of supplier and manufacturer networks in Europe or Asia.
* London-based or able to attend occasional in-person meetings (preferred but not essential).
