Job description
The University of Winchester has a strong reputation for nurturing graduates who thrive in professional practice. Now is your opportunity to join a committed and forward-thinking academic team within the Department of Sport, Allied Health Professions and Social Work, and help shape the next generation of Sports Therapists.
Our BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy programme is accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists and is underpinned by a focus on practical excellence and student-centred learning. It sits alongside other established degree programmes in the Sport area and therefore offers the opportunity for inter-professional teaching and learning.
We are seeking an individual with strong subject knowledge and professional experience in Sports Therapy who is ready to bring their expertise into an academic setting. Whether you are an experienced academic or looking to take the next step in your teaching career, we welcome applications from candidates at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level.
You will contribute to the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, student supervision, and curriculum development. Teaching responsibilities may include modules such as Clinical Examination and Assessment, Rehabilitation, and Professional Practice. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with experience of teaching or clinical expertise in manual therapy, including joint mobilisations and electrotherapy, as well as sports trauma management.
Experience of teaching in higher education, module leadership, and curriculum design will be advantageous, particularly for Senior Lecturer applicants. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about education and committed to enhancing the student experience.
As part of our collaborative academic community, you will also support students as a personal academic tutor and engage with the wider activities of the School and University. A supportive working environment awaits, with access to mentorship and opportunities to develop your academic profile through research and/or consultancy.
To be considered for this post, you must be a registered member of The Society of Sports Therapists with a minimum of three years' post-graduation professional experience, in line with professional body requirements for student placement supervision.
If you are a team player with a forward-thinking approach, strong communication skills, and a genuine commitment to developing the profession, we would be delighted to hear from you.
