Job Overview
We have an opportunity for a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join Custom Solar working out of our Chesterfield office reporting to the Commercial Manager. Custom Solar sits within the Power and Grid business unit within Mitie. This is an exciting opportunity to join one of the UK's leading specialist Solar PV developers and contribute to the commercial department. You will work alongside Quantity Surveyors under the guidance of the Commercial Manager to achieve the business commercial objectives and interests. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has recently graduated to begin their Quantity Surveying career.
Main Duties
1. Support the commercial team with collating cost data, budget management and contract administration.
2. Assist in cash management and cash flow production for projects.
3. Assisting with the preparation of forecasting documentation.
4. Support the Quantity Surveyor in liaising with the operational teams regarding live projects.
5. Assist in managing subcontract accounts.
6. With the support of the Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager draft subcontracts.
7. Attend progress meetings.
8. Contribute to weekly commercial meetings.
9. Support the commercial team with compiling data for Application for Payments.
10. Assist with production of Compensation Events and Early Warnings.
11. Conduct site visits alongside the wider commercial team.
12. Ensure work is carried out in line with internal processes and governance.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
13. Minimum 2:2 degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying.
14. Strong communication, numerical and analytical skills.
15. Attention to detail.
16. Strong organisational skills.
17. Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
18. Willingness to learn and integrate within a supportive environment.
19. Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
20. Previous experience in a supporting role within a Commercial Team.
