East Sussex County Council Children’s Services wish to appoint a Registered Manager to one of our four bedded children’s homes in St Leonards on Sea, recently rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
Do you have the drive and determination to lead a staff team to improve looked after children and young people’s outcomes and enhance their life experiences? Are you passionate about working with young people? Do you have a working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards 2015 and have management experience within a children’s home setting?

1. You will be responsible for ensuring effective safeguarding for the young people you look after, overseeing effective and robust risk management and care planning.
2. You will manage a team of residential support workers and a deputy manager, providing supportive, reflective, and challenging supervision, to develop strong and positive relationships with the children in your care.
3. You will liaise with multi professional teams and families to drive forward the care plan and achieve best outcomes for the young people in your care.
4. You will ensure compliance with regulations and as well as maintaining standards as specified within Ofsted social care inspection framework.
5. You will be required to register and demonstrate as a fit person under Ofsted requirements for a Registered Manager.
6. You will hold the Level 5 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent level qualification or be willing to undertake within three years, or a social work qualification.
7. You will participate on the out of hours on call management rota across the East Sussex residential homes for which there is a claimed allowance.
The ideal candidate will have the drive, enthusiasm, and determination to improve the lives of the children residing at the home. You will have extensive residential experience to understand the needs of the children within the home’s setting at a managerial level and a good understanding of Children’s Home Regulations and quality standards. Offering excellent leadership to your committed team you will enable each child to reach their full potential whilst giving them positive experiences both socially and educationally, by implementing robust individual care plans and risk assessments. As an effective leader you will also be an excellent communicator, confidently working in partnership with a range of stakeholders, including Social Workers, Operational Managers, health and education professionals and corporate parents.
This challenging role will also require resilience and excellent self-awareness as you’ll be required to manage and support staff with children who have difficult behaviours and complex emotional needs.
