Join to apply for the Probation Services Officer role at HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS)
Salary: £26,475 - £31,650
About the role: As a Probation Services Officer, you’ll have a similar job to a fully qualified probation officer. The main difference is you’ll work with medium and lower risk clients. There’s a challenging but rewarding aspect to this role, including assessing and managing risks, providing information to courts, and working closely with agencies throughout the justice system. You will support offenders by providing practical advice about housing and employment and by listening. You will liaise with criminal courts, criminal justice agencies, and other partner agencies, and you will work with other agencies to prevent crime and meet the needs of victims and people on probation.
About you: A degree is not required. We’re more interested in your personal qualities. Ideally you’ll have experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties and you’ll be empathetic, patient and resilient. You should demonstrate high level numeracy and literacy and have the ability to read, understand and interpret policies, and write reports and correspondence for internal and external stakeholders. Minimum requirement: 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including English and Maths.
About us: The Probation Service works with offenders who are pre or post-release from prison or serving community sentences. Our role is to support rehabilitation and protect the public. Join us and you’ll be part of a supportive team that thrives on sharing knowledge and expertise. If this sounds like you, apply now.
