Court of Protection Solicitor – Halifax Are you an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor with a genuine passion for health and welfare law? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a highly respected, nationally recognised Court of Protection team. This role offers the chance to work alongside nationally appointed specialists while further developing your expertise in one of the most challenging and rewarding areas of mental capacity law. The expanding Court of Protection team includes a Panel Deputy and an Accredited Legal Representative and is widely recognised for its commitment to protecting the rights of vulnerable individuals. Owing to sustained growth and increasing demand, the team is now seeking a dedicated and experienced Solicitor to manage a diverse caseload of health and welfare matters under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. This position is well suited to a Solicitor looking to take the next step in their career, as well as to a senior practitioner seeking a leadership opportunity, with genuine scope to progress into managing the team for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: Managing a varied caseload of health and welfare Court of Protection matters, including s.21A and s.16 applications Meeting clients, taking instructions, preparing cases and undertaking in-depth legal research Drafting applications, statements and other court documents, with advocacy responsibilities where appropriate Ensuring compliance with all file management, regulatory and procedural requirements Supporting the Head of Department and contributing to strategic planning and service development Developing and maintaining professional relationships and assisting with business development initiatives Working sensitively and compassionately with vulnerable clients and their families Maintaining accurate time recording and billing Implementing feedback from file reviews to support continuous improvement Requirements: Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practising certificate Proven experience in Court of Protection health and welfare work Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and relevant case law Experience with public and/or privately funded matters Advocacy experience advantageous but not essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage a complex caseload with minimal supervision Strong organisational, analytical and time management skills Professional and empathetic approach when working with vulnerable individuals Interest in business development and marketing is beneficial Why Apply?
