Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Full-Time) Location: Slough Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, Term Time Contract Type: Permanent / Fixed-Term (depending on school needs) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience and qualifications About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive school in Slough. In this vital role, you will provide targeted support to children with additional learning needs, helping them access the curriculum and develop their independence and confidence. Key Responsibilities: Support individual pupils and small groups with Special Educational Needs under the guidance of the SENCO and class teachers Assist in delivering personalised learning activities tailored to children’s needs Promote positive behaviour and help implement behaviour management plans Support pupils’ social, emotional, and physical development Help prepare resources and adapt learning materials to meet SEN requirements Monitor and record pupils’ progress and report to teaching staff Work collaboratively with teachers, parents/carers, and external professionals to support children’s development Support children with personal care and mobility needs, ensuring dignity and respect Candidate Requirements: Experience working with children with SEN in a school or educational setting Relevant qualifications (Level 2 or Level 3 in Childcare, Education, or SEN support preferred) Understanding of a range of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, learning difficulties, and communication needs Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting pupils Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team Awareness of safeguarding and child protection procedures Desirable: Training in Makaton, PECS, or other communication support methods First Aid qualification Experience with behaviour management techniques What We Offer: A supportive and inclusive school environment Opportunities for professional development and SEN-specific training The chance to make a real difference in children’s lives Friendly and collaborative staff team All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
