Overview
Ambulance Care Assistant (Bank) role at EMED Group – based in Huntingdon. This is a bank (0 hour) contract.
Responsibilities
* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities. This may be done by two-person crews or alone; requires a full UK driving licence and a good level of physical fitness.
* Transporting elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from their medical appointments and between healthcare facilities.
* Assisting in the transportation of end-of-life service users with empathy at all times.
* Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Be responsible for lifting, securing and helping service users in and out of the Ambulance.
* Assist with handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres/hospitals or to family/friends at their homes.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar, both in hospital and during medical flights.
* Assist service users with challenging behaviour and/or mental health illnesses.
* Ensure the ambulance is kept safe, clean and tidy.
Qualifications
* Hold a full UK (manual) driving licence with less than 6 penalty points.
* Committed to patient care.
* Effective communicator with experience handling emotional circumstances.
* Calm, considerate, careful driver.
* Natural flair for teamwork and collaboration.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Pass an Enhanced DBS check.
* Familiar with the local and surrounding area.
