We’re recruiting on behalf of our client who are a growing accountancy business specialising in the UK construction sector, supporting self-employed contractors and small companies with CIS submissions, tax returns, and company accounts. They are now looking for an Accountancy Assistant to join the team and play a key role in keeping their clients compliant, informed, and supported. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys the detail of tax work but values a flexible, modern approach to working. What You’ll Be Doing: * Preparing and submitting CIS returns and self-assessment tax returns for a range of clients. * Assisting in the preparation of year-end company accounts and corporation tax returns. * Managing and updating client files, ensuring all data is accurate and HMRC-compliant. * Supporting client onboarding — collecting and checking ID, UTRs, and registration details. * Liaising directly with HMRC on client queries and submissions. * Providing general administrative support to the wider team and assisting with client communications. What You’ll Need * Proven experience working within an accountancy practice or tax administration role. * Working knowledge of CIS, self-assessment, and limited company accounts. * Ideally AAT qualified (or working towards AAT Level 3 or higher). * Strong IT skills — comfortable using accounting or tax software (Nomisma, Capium, Xero, or similar). * High attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to manage your own workload. * Good communication skills — both written and verbal. * A proactive, organised mindset — able to work independently in a small but growing team. What's on Offer * Up to £32,000 per annum based on experience. * Hybrid working: Fully remote considered for the right candidate. * Flexible hours * Supportive, down-to-earth team that values initiative and trust. * Opportunity to grow with the business.
