Position: Barbering Teacher Location: Ofsted‑rated “Good” further education college in Berkshire (based in Reading) Working Hours: Part‑time – approx. 18.5 hours per week (Monday & Tuesday until 7pm; Wednesday morning) Role Type: Temporary (while recruiting for permanent) – start ASAP Rate: Competitive The Role You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging practical and theoretical lessons covering the full barbering curriculum. You will assess and guide students’ progress, offering support and encouragement so that each learner reaches their full potential and is well‑prepared for a career in barbering. Key Responsibilities Prepare and deliver high‑quality lessons across Barbering Level 2 Assess student performance and progress, providing clear feedback and development support Create a positive learning environment where learners are motivated and feel supported Liaise with industry professionals and support work‑based experience and links Ensure the curriculum is compliant, up‑to‑date with industry standards and reflects current barbering practice Candidate Profile Essential: Level 2 qualification in Barbering Strong industry experience in a professional barbering environment Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Passion for education and a learner‑centred approach Ability to plan and deliver engaging sessions Desirable: Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) Experience teaching in a Further Education or training setting Experience with curriculum planning and assessment Knowledge of safeguarding and current education practices Familiarity with awarding body requirements and quality assurance Why This College?
