Strategic Design and Transition Programme - Strategy Policy Specialist - 32182

We’re looking for an experienced Strategy and Policy Specialist to be part of the Strategic Design and Transition Programme. Your work will analyse the Independent Water Commission’s recommendations and shape the future of the EA, ensuring continued environmental protection and sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality, balanced, evidence‑based advice on IWC recommendations, particularly the creation of a single water regulator.
* Engage with colleagues across Government, within the EA, and with other regulators to align on our approach.
* Adopt a constructive and innovative stance, keeping pace in a fast‑moving environment.
* Take a flexible, collaborative approach to assist other projects and workstreams as needed.
* Actively contribute to a high‑performing, agile team that remains resilient under high demand and ambiguity.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience developing policy with central government, working with specialists such as economists and scientists.
* Strategic thinking and the ability to influence across levels.
* Excellent communication and engagement skills, translating complex information into clear, targeted advice on short notice.
* Demonstrated ability to work across boundaries and influence stakeholders.

Location: EA Office (national role, flexible working). Some travel and occasional overnight stays may be required.
Contract: Up to 12 months.
