Position Summary
Magellan Aerospace, Llay Wrexham has an exciting opportunity for a NDT Operator L1.
* Full Time Permanent position
* 42 hours per week, working days and nights on 24/7 shift pattern.
* Job location: Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB.
* Unionised site – works in partnership with Unite the Union.
Non destructive testing of aircraft components using methods such as penetrate flaw detection, hardness, conductivity and magnetic flaw detection to customer specifications. This involves the interpretation and operation of test methods & calibration of equipment in order to achieve accurate results to certify the parts. Failure do so may result in defected parts entering service which may cause disruption and lead to cost to the business, and aircraft failure.

Essential Responsibilities
* To complete pre-use checks of all equipment to ensure that, it is safe and fit to use, including daily RPE checks to ensure that all breathing equipment under supervision
* To check that all airlines are in good condition and not showing signs of fatigue under supervision
* To complete the relevant PPM’s and scheduled maintenance tasks such as changing filters under supervision
* Operate Crane under supervision
* Chemically clean and etch components under supervision
* Jig components under supervision
* Operate manual semi-auto and automated chemical process lines and ovens under supervision
* Visual inspection for defects such as but not limited to damage, corrosion under supervision
* Visually inspection parts against engineering drawings under supervision
* Apply penetrants and wash off under supervision
* Use of calibrated measuring equipment under supervision
* Carry out daily process confirmation checks under supervision
* Verify parts are correct to the job card and processed following customer specifications under supervision
* Responsible for identifying any failures with parts, completion of NCR forms and escalating to the Line Manager for rectification work under supervision
* Ensure that processes and procedures are followed to ensure all tasks are performed efficiently and to the required quality standard
* Must comply with relevant Environment, Health and Safety legislation and company policies, procedures and safe working systems
* Under supervision the job has responsibility for cross checking that all of the prior operations have been completed prior to commencing this operation
* Other reasonable requests may be asked
Position Requirements
Essential Criteria
* GCSE or equivalent including Maths & English.
* Good verbal and written communication.
* Excellent vision requirements (no colour blindness)
* There is a physical element to this role lifting parts
Desirable Criteria
* SAP or MRP experience
* Crane licence.
* Ability to read and understand customer specifications, drawings and visual aids
