Aden Engineering & Consultancy Ltd is seeking a technically strong Industrial Automation and Control Engineer to support our expanding portfolio of projects in the automotive and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The successful candidate will contribute to legacy control system support, modernisation projects, and advanced automation solutions deployed in factory environments across the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
* Programming and integration of PLC, HMI and SCADA systems
* Commissioning and troubleshooting systems on site
* Migrating legacy control platforms to modern architectures
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams on automation projects
* Managing project timelines and deliverables to ensure successful completion
* Preparing project documentations
* Keeping up-to-date with emerging automation technologies and industry best practices
* Providing technical support and training to clients
Required Technical Skills
* Proven experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Beckhoff etc.)
* HMI/SCADA system development and integration
* Understanding of machine safety and control panel standards
* Fieldbus communication protocols (e.g., EthernetIP, Modbus, Profibus, EtherCAT
Specialised Expertise (essential for this role)
* Extensive programming experience with legacy Rockwell products such as: Automax, Ultra3000, Ultra5000, PanelView Standard, PanelView Plus, Panelview 5000, Reliance GV3000, ControlLogix, CompactLogix control systems
* Extensive programming experience with legacy Rockwell software such as: PanelBuilder 32, PanelBuilder 1400, GML Commander, Ultraware, RSNetWorx, RSLogix 5, RSLogix 500, RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View Studio, FactoryTalk AssetCentre, Connected Component Workbench, Drive Executive, Thinmanager
* Proven capability to develop tailored migration strategies from legacy platforms to modern architectures
* Awareness of cybersecurity, Safety Integrity Levels (SIL), and compliance standards in industrial environments
Qualifications
* BSc or MSc in Electrical, Electronics or Mechatronics Engineering
* 5+ years hands-on experience in factory automation and control
* Strong command of English (minimum B2 level)
Desirable Skills
* Exposure to robotics, machine vision, or IIoT platforms
* Ability to read electrical schematics and design functional safety concepts
