We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive multidisciplinary team. You will work alongside trained nursing and therapy staff, assisting in the day-to-day care and management of patients to ensure they receive safe, high-quality nursing care at Herts and Essex Hospital, Bishop Stortford.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Undertake personal care duties, such as bathing, toileting, dressing, supporting with meals, and assisting patients with their appointments.
2. Maintain patient bed spaces, ensuring they are clean, tidy, accessible, and equipped with necessary items within easy reach.
3. Practice safe standards of care following Trust guidelines and policies, maintaining concentration throughout the day despite occasional interruptions.
4. Adhere to infection prevention and health and safety policies and procedures.
5. Update patient records, including recording fluid balance, nutrition, height, weight, and age.
6. Develop skills to facilitate patients' self-care and independence.
7. Ensure equipment and supplies are well maintained and report faults promptly.
8. Work effectively as part of a team.
Progression to Band 3 Responsibilities:
1. Perform patient observations such as heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, respirations, blood glucose monitoring, and GCS.
2. Collect and test urine samples.
3. Conduct wound swaps, observations, and simple wound dressings.
4. Remove peripheral cannulas and perform urinalysis.
