A young adult with disabilities linked to his cerebral palsy, who lives at home in Kelso, is looking for a cheerful and friendly and experienced support worker to join his small team. The role is to support him with his daily needs plus general support to enable him to enjoy activities in his home and in the community and to give his caring mum a respite break on occasion.
Terms
* Hours per week: 5
* Hours of work: Flexible to be discussed with the employer and may involve some evening work.
* £14.00 per hour.
* Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata.
* Post pending references and PVG check.
* Probationary period of 3 months
Job Description
* Main Tasks & Responsibilities
* To support a disabled young person to ensure their safety and well-being
* To support with personal care needs as required, usually supporting mum with such tasks.
* To support with general care needs including supporting client in his wheelchair.
* To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
* To develop a positive relationship with the young person and his parents
* To interact with the client and keep them entertained with activities they enjoy, primarily in the home, but also in the local community including taking them out in their wheelchair.
* To work alongside a parent or another member of the team when required but to work independently too
* To accompany the client on short trips out of the house for appointments or social activities (usually with parent or another member of the team)
