About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled and reliable Maintenance Operative to join our Facilities Management team at HMP Altcourse. You’ll play a vital role in maintaining a safe, secure, and well-functioning environment for staff and residents alike.
In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring the prison site and its facilities remain in excellent working order.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake general maintenance, repairs, and minor installation work across the site.
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) in accordance with schedules.
* Respond promptly and effectively to maintenance requests or emergencies.
* Ensure all work meets relevant health, safety, and security standards.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and prison staff to maintain a safe and compliant environment.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience in general maintenance, building services, or a trade ( plumbing, carpentry, electrical, or mechanical).
* Strong awareness of health and safety requirements.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Security clearance (or ability to obtain it).
* High level of interpersonal skills
* Proactive, systematic approach to tasks.
* Maximo CAFM experience desirable
* Ability to work to correct time schedules and deadlines.
* Team Player
