Job Title: Laboratory Lead
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Due to the role, Baseline Personnel Security Standard Clearnce (BPSS) is required before starting on site. You must:
1. Hold or be willing and eligible to obtain BPSS
2. Be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship

Matchtech has partnered with a leading aerospace and defence powerhouse to recruit a Laboratory Lead for a permanent position in Southampton.
You'll coordinate, control, and plan laboratory activities under Quality Assurance oversight, acting as the focal point for daily operations while managing internal and external customer expectations.
Where You'll Make an Impact
Key Responsibilities:
3. Laboratory Oversight & Leadership: Lead laboratory operations, driving EHS, quality, and compliance through best practice and strong leadership.
4. Audit & Compliance: Support NADCAP audit preparation and ensure compliance via test data analysis and trending oversight.
5. Technical Support & Expertise: Provide expert support on materials and special processes; act as Radiological Protection Supervisor with full responsibility.
6. Calibration Management: Oversee calibration services end-to-end, including recall systems, subcontractors, reporting, database management, and logistics.
7. Performance & Process Improvement: Develop calibration metrics and champion improvements to reduce costs, speed up turnaround, and enhance quality.
The Essentials You'll Need
8. A Degree qualification in Materials Science, Metallurgy, or Chemistry-or equivalent high-level experience.
9. An extensive aerospace materials knowledge with specialist skills in heat treatment (including pyrometry and metallurgy), composite testing, and chemical analysis of surface treatments.
10. A strong understanding of NADCAP procedures and technical requirements across diverse commodities.
11. To be organised, proactive problem solver who works well independently and within a team.
