Are you an experienced Design Manager looking to play a key role in delivering some of Europe’s most advanced Data Centre projects?
We are working with a leading international main contractor who are delivering large-scale, mission-critical Data Centre developments across Europe. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their team in Lisbon, supporting the delivery of high-profile hyperscale Data Centre projects.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business at the forefront of the rapidly expanding data centre sector, working alongside highly experienced teams on technically complex and fast-paced projects.
Why This Role?
This role goes far beyond managing drawings and technical documentation. As a Design Manager, you will lead and coordinate the design process across complex Data Centre projects, ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable, and aligned with client and programme requirements.
You will work closely with consultants, specialist subcontractors, and internal delivery teams to ensure designs meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and compliance expected in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design management process throughout pre-construction and delivery phases.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including consultants, engineers, and specialist contractors.
• Manage technical design reviews to ensure buildability, programme alignment, and cost efficiency.
• Drive coordination across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines on complex data centre projects.
• Support value engineering and design optimisation opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, technical specifications, and relevant regulations.
• Manage design workshops and interface with project stakeholders.
• Provide technical support to project delivery teams throughout the construction process.
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contractor environment.
• Experience working on Data Centre, mission-critical, or large-scale technically complex projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of multidisciplinary design coordination, particularly across MEP-intensive projects.
• Background in engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple design packages within a fast-paced project environment.
• Highly organised with strong technical and problem-solving abilities.
