JD Ross Energy are currently engaged in a search assignment for a renewable energy and energy infrastructure consultancy who are looking for an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join their team. Specifically, our client is looking for a Systems Studies Specialist who can bring deep expertise in conducting studies within onshore and offshore wind projects.
Although this position would be conducted from our client's Manchester office, the company in question are a global consultancy with an outstanding track record of securing tenders and delivering projects for energy infrastructure and renewable energy projects worldwide.
This position is ideal for for an experienced Systems Studies Engineer who does not want to be in a managerial position, but is excited by the prospect of acting as a senior technical figure within the team, mentoring and inspiring more junior power systems engineers. In particular, using your knowledge of electromechanical transient studies and setting the technical standard, while staying hands‑on and closely involved in solving challenging, real‑world grid problems for a wide range of clients.
In addition to a formal qualification in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Engineering or a similar technical discipline, suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
* A strong track record delivering specialist electrical network consultancy to generation developers and network owners, ideally across large‑scale or complex infrastructure projects
* Deep knowledge and expertise with power system modelling, analysis and simulation software. Preferable PSCAD, but other tools (DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP) would be beneficial too
* Experience in autonomously conducting studies within electromagnetic transience, load flow, harmonic analysis, and short circuit analysis
* Proven capability to technically lead and review complex analytical work, identifying risks, interpreting results, and shaping practical solutions for clients
* Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex engineering concepts clearly to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders
* A collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in coaching and developing early‑career engineers within a high‑performing technical team
