Teaching Assistant – ASC Provision (Oaklands School, Calthorpe Academy) Location: Oaklands School, 10 Boughton Rd, Birmingham B25 8AJ Type: Full-Time / Long-Term Salary: £88 –£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing The School and Role ABC Teachers are seeking a committed and compassionate Teaching Assistant to work at Oaklands School, a specialist ASC provision that forms part of Calthorpe Academy. Oaklands School supports up to 40 primary-aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) in a highly structured, nurturing environment. As a Teaching Assistant, you will support pupils on a 1:1 and small-group basis, helping them to access learning, develop communication skills, and build confidence within a calm and consistent setting. You will work closely with class teachers and specialist staff to deliver tailored support that meets each child’s individual needs. This role is well suited to candidates with experience in ASC, SEND, care, youth work or education, or those looking to build a career in specialist primary education. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group support for primary-aged pupils with ASC Support pupils’ learning, communication and social development Help pupils manage routines, transitions and emotional regulation Implement personalised support and behaviour strategies Support pupils during lessons, playtimes and structured activities Work collaboratively with teachers and the wider support team The School Environment Oaklands School is a small, specialist ASC provision offering a highly supportive learning environment. The Ideal Candidate Will Have: Experience working with children or young people (ASC/SEND experience desirable) A calm, patient and empathetic approach Strong communication and teamwork skills Confidence supporting behaviour, routines and emotional needs A DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Training and CPD are available for candidates new to ASC support.
