Are you ready to help us shape the future of the water industry?
Join our dynamic and multidisciplinary Water Team as a Principal Flood Modeller in one of our UK offices – whilst also taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model. You will be a senior technical resource that will guide our more junior staff and proactively aim to develop our offering to mainly the Environment Agency and private sector clients.
At AECOM, we’re at the forefront of innovation, delivering an exceptional portfolio of water programmes and projects through long-term partnerships with key clients. We have secured places on major frameworks with the Environment Agency, National Grid, Wessex Water, Anglian Water, National Highways, Southern Water and South West Water. As well as our existing major infrastructure clients, we have a large pipeline of work which we would love you to be part of.
Here’s what you’ll do:
* Technical Expert: Lead the estimation of flood flows using established methodologies in the Flood Estimations Handbook. Develop and check hydraulic models (using packages such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks ICM) to assist the design of flood alleviation schemes, flood risk assessments, river restoration projects or the Environment Agency’s flood maps.
* Deliver: Lead and input into tenders ranging from innovative one-off projects to multimillion pound framework contracts. Produce and review high-quality technical reports documenting model build and uncertainties in the model build process. Conceptualise and scope modelling and hydrological approaches, with consideration of the risks and opportunities in each.
* Collaborate: Work closely with our clients and teams of engineers and technical specialists to help our clients deliver a wide range of fluvial, coastal, surface water or drainage flood risk management projects.
* Lead: Mentor staff within the team to support their professional development and build relationships with clients and across other technical disciplines.
* Quality: Keep up-to-date with developments in legislation and guidelines that may affect our services. Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs to our clients in line with the agreed programme and budget.
