Swansea Bay UHB Infection Prevention & Control Service is seeking a motivated individual committed to delivering safe and effective care to service users. This permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours, Mon-Fri 9-5, excluding BH) involves rotation across healthcare settings, primarily community-focused after induction. The role includes supporting local health protection teams and working with community partners.
The post requires frequent travel between health board premises and community settings to provide support, education, and audits related to infection prevention and control (IP&C). On-site parking may not be available at all sites, and the role involves transporting training equipment between locations. Flexibility and ability to travel independently are essential.
Main duties of the job
* Work as part of the Infection Prevention & Control Team (IPCT) across all health delivery settings, including primary, secondary, tertiary care, and mental health & learning disability settings.
* Support staff on infection prevention and control, including equipment decontamination, education delivery, and audits.
* Visit clinical areas to collect data, observe IP&C practices, provide feedback, and report on compliance with standards.
* Support the monitoring of infection outbreaks and control measures for patients with alert organisms.
Fluency in Welsh is desirable but not essential; applications are welcome from English and Welsh speakers. The role offers valuable experience working collaboratively across disciplines, influencing best practices, and supporting safe care standards to protect staff, patients, and visitors from infection risks.
