Assystem Energy & Infrastructure are recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to work at our customers site in Warrington on a contract basis.
The Design Engineer is responsible for the creation of component/assembly designs and associated through life justification that meet their requirements and product attributes, ie life, cost availability and safety margins.
Role details: 
 * Job title: Mechanical Design Engineer
 * Contract length: 12 months 
 * Location: Warrington
 * Contract type: PAYE via Umbrella solution
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 * To understand Product system / sub-system requirements and derive Component requirements at task level.
 * To produce robust design solutions which are insensitive to variation to address specified requirements.
 * To collaborate and communicate design solution information with task stakeholders.
 * To search for, capture, store, and re-use knowledge relating to design activity.
 * To understand and apply the commodity standards and to create new standards where none exist.
 * To liaise with manufacturing and service engineering to actively integrate the experience and knowledge from these areas.
 * To check own and others design a solutions and technical for completeness and correctness.
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
 * Bachelor's degree, Master's or PhD in Engineering or regional equivalent qualification or equivalent technical capability based on practical knowledge and experience.
 * Technical experience relevant to the engineering discipline.
 * An ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems.
 * Knowledge and experience of product integrity / liability and justification.
 * Membership of a relevant professional body or working towards.
 * Experience as design engineer operating across the product life cycle, undertaking design safety justification activites supporting manufacturing, integration, maintenance /refit activities and dealing with operational issues.
 * Experience of Research and development, analytical and test verification activities.
 * Experience in the development of methods, standards and processes.
