About this Role
Ashley is recruiting a curriculum gardener to join our amazing team. We are looking for a versatile, enthusiastic and committed person who can adapt their approach to work with children from reception to year 6, with the support of the classteacher.
Job Purpose:
To maintain the school's growing areas and support children's learning around the principles of sustainability and understanding of growing food (from simple seed sowing to plant care).
Key Responsibilities:
The tasks below serve to indicate the range of duties involved.
Gardening
* Soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding edging, bed preparation, pruning and staking trees.
* Work with Curriculum Subject Leaders and World Caretakers to embed the curriculum-linked gardening programme from EYFS - Year 6.
* Work with groups of children to demonstrate and support gardening.
* Propagate and raise plant material suitable for bedding and pupil projects.
* Select and order bulbs for bedding and naturalization.
* Prepare and plant raised planting beds.
* Liaise and nurture relationships with the local community/charities (support from assistant headteacher).
* Budget - obtain items needed for the garden – donations/purchase within budget guidelines.
Seeds And Weeds Club
* Lead a club before school/after school with a small group of children.

Salary: The Good Shepherd Trust support staff scale E1 £26,293 pa FTE, £8,121 actual for 2 days per week.
