Vickerstock are working in partnership with an award winning manufacturing company based in South Down to assist them with the recruitment of an Operations/Senior Production Manager.
Our client specialises in the engineering, supply, and deployment of modular prefabricated energy systems, typically fabricated in Northern Ireland and distributed across the UK and mainland Europe. Their capabilities include the provision of fully integrated, turnkey solutions encompassing the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of commercial energy centres and large-scale district heating networks. With a proven track record in the successful procurement, project management, and delivery of complex energy infrastructure, they have extensive experience working with a diverse portfolio of public sector clients throughout the UK and Europe.
As the Operations/Senior Production Manager you will be responsible for;
* Oversee and manage all aspects of daily production activities to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing operations.
* Maintain visibility of production capacity, assess current capabilities, set future capacity targets, and provide daily and weekly performance reporting.
* Develop and execute detailed production schedules to maximise resource utilisation and ensure adherence to delivery timelines.
* Continuously monitor production metrics, promptly addressing performance deviations or bottlenecks to minimise downtime.
* Ensure strict adherence to health and safety legislation, promoting a culture of safety and compliance across all operations.
* Work closely with Quality Assurance to uphold consistent product standards and resolve quality-related issues.
* Provide strong leadership and mentoring to production teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Liaise effectively with cross-functional departments including procurement, planning, and logistics to ensure seamless operational flow.
* Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for key production roles including general operatives, skilled technicians, material planners, and supervisory staff.
* Analyse operational data and prepare regular performance reports for senior leadership, offering actionable insights.
* Identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation, standardisation, and operational excellence.
* Drive lean manufacturing initiatives with a focus on automation, workflow efficiency, reduced material handling, and minimised downtime.
* Deliver monthly presentations to senior management, detailing production output, forecasting workload, and outlining future infrastructure requirements.
As the Operations/Senior Production manager ideally you will have;
* A recognised degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
* Demonstrable experience in a senior production or operations management role, ideally within the heating, mechanical, or broader manufacturing sector.
* Proven leadership capabilities with experience managing diverse teams in a fast-paced production environment.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic decision-making skills.
* In-depth understanding of production planning, process engineering, and quality assurance principles.
* Competent in the use of production management systems and digital workflow tools.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Resilient under pressure, with the ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising on quality.
